Purpose Statement
- Calibration of Drives for Cutting System gantry type machines

Scope
- Yaskawa Sigma 2 Drives

- Procedure
- Disengage all drives.
- Get a laptop and the sigma 2 communication cable from the tool crib. This cable is different from the standard Yaskawa cable.
- Turn on the computer and connect the communication cable.
- Double click on Yaskawa sigma 2.
- Select sgdh-*** e series.
- Click on ok.
- Select constants at the top of the screen.
- Select user constants number.
- Select disk – PC.
- Select the proper file for the axis being calibrated. (x, y, or w)
- Select PC – drive. Then transfer. This should load the constants to the drive amp.
- Reboot the machine from the wall.
- Do the speed calibration on the vision control. (rock the drives.)
- The drives should be set to 750 IPM unless otherwise specified.
- If the speed is wrong, go back in the user constants on the laptop. Page down to pn 300: speed reference gain: 545.
- Double click to edit this line.
- Decrease the number to make the drive faster, or increase the number to make the drive run slower.
- After the number is changed, select PC – drive.
- Click on transfer.
- Repeat steps 11-17 until the drive runs 750 IPM.
- Do this procedure for all three drives.
- Jog the machine and check for proper direction of the drives before engaging them.
- If the direction is wrong, go back in the user constants to pn000: basic switch: 0000h.
- Double click to edit this line.
- The last digit on the right selects the direction. If this number is set to 1 and the drive is running backwards, change it to 0. If it is set to 0 and the drive is running backwards, change it to 1. Then click ok.
- Select PC – drive and transfer.
- After changing this constant, the machine must be turned off and back on at the wall for the constant change to be active.
